Letter from the Library
Hello friends! We are in the final stretch of preparing for our Turkey Tuesday event, which will be tomorrow, November 25 from 5-7pm at our temporary location (508 E. Central). We are looking forward to a great turn out and welcome you and your family to attend and enjoy cupcakes, crafts, and a special Thanksgiving song!
Swing by the library during the first week of December to take a peek at our creations and season-long photo backdrops that will be available for family photos throughout December.
We will be hosting our annual Saturday with Santa event on December 6 from 11am to 2pm and will be featuring a virtual presentation by author Alda Dobbs at 11am. Mrs. Dobbs wrote a children’s book entitled “The Giving Flower: The History of the Poinsettia” and will be talking to children and parents about that history. Mrs. Dobbs will have a short Q&A at the end of her presentation, and then we will be welcoming Santa for come-and-go pictures and a poinsettia craft for everyone (pets are welcome for pictures as well!).
If you haven’t had a chance, check out our recent updates to the website at comanchepubliclibrary.org. We have added a “catalog” page with quick links to the library’s online catalog and ebook and audiobook resources. We will continue to periodically update our website in the coming months in order to modernize and expand our public online resources for patrons.
Finally, the library is excited to announce two new upcoming events! The library is partnering with DPT to host a New Year’s Family Game Day on December 30 from 1-7pm. DPT will provide snacks and drinks and the library will provide card and board games. Patrons are welcome to BYOG (bring your own games) as well! There will be free game play all afternoon and several scheduled meet up times for patrons interested in particular games (children’s bingo, 42/dominos, and Nertz/card games).
The library will also be hosting a New Year’s PJ Party and Stuffy Sleepover on January 8. Children are invited to bring their stuffed animals from 5-7pm for cartoons, snacks, and crafts and stuffys will be allowed to sleepover in the library! Stuffy pick up will be on January 9, time TBA.
Thank you for your interest and see you at the library soon!
